ABINGDON, MD — After a woman had a chemical thrown on her in the HomeGoods parking lot, authorities are investigating. Officials said the assault happened between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, in the 3400 block of Emmorton Road. The woman was in the parking lot of HomeGoods when a small black car pulled up and the man and woman inside "yelled homophobic remarks at her and threw an unknown liquid at her before driving off," according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. "The victim believed the liquid was water and continued her day," officials said. About an hour later, authorities said the woman's skin started to itch, and she was treated at a local urgent care center for "what appeared to be chemical burns." The suspects are described as a white man in his early 20s with short black hair driving a small black car, where a white woman in her early 20s with light brown hair was a passenger. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call Corporal Maddox at 443-409-3551.
