POSITION SUMMARY: The Environmental Service Technician provides a variety of services and duties to ensure the sanitation, infection control and cleanliness of Heron’s Key’s facilities. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school degree or GED required. Three months’ housekeeping/laundry service experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Common sense and good judgment. Able to learn new procedures and techniques quickly. Able to work effectively and efficiently. Able to work both independently or in a team environment. Deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public. Able to keep confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively with residents and co-workers in English. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Requires regular, predictable, and dependable attendance. Interacts with residents using superior customer service techniques. Provides general cleaning services of resident living areas such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting and empting trash. Makes beds and/or changes linens. Cleans large appliances: refrigerators, stoves/ovens, washers, dryers and microwaves. Disinfects medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, medicine carts, and beds. Handles soiled linens using universal infection protection techniques. Performs laundry services for residents, Health Services and Food & Beverage departments using commercial laundry equipment. Irons, folds and returns clean laundry to residents, Health Services and Food & Beverage departments. Provides pet care for pets including walking, feeding and changing litter boxes. Restocks skilled nursing home rooms with bathroom supplies including toilet tissues, paper towels, hand soap, and gloves. Spot-cleans carpets. Distribute drinking water to residents living in Penrose Harbor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walks, stands, stoops, bend most of day. May lift up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds-rarely. May carry up to 25 pounds. Other physical demands: reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, handling, twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing.
