Bucks County Opens New Creek Road Bridge in Warwick Township

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — County officials reopened Bridge No. 138 in Warwick Township this week, ending a six-month bridge closure. The 83-year-old bridge, which carries Creek Road over a tributary to the Little Neshaminy Creek, was closed in November 2020 to replace a two-lane span that was built in 1937. The $1 million project was paid for through state Act 13 Marcellus Shale Legacy Funds. The new bridge is about 10 feet longer than the original bridge, in part to improve the flow of creek beneath it. Two plaques were installed in the bridge's concrete pylons: one that commemorates the original 1937 bridge and one for the new structure. The approach roadway to the bridge was also reconstructed, and guide trail was installed on the structure and the approach. The new bridge, one of 114 owned by Bucks County and maintained by its General Services Division, is expected to last about 100 years. Loftus Construction, Inc., of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, was the contractor on the project; bridge and roadway design were done by Pickering, Corts & Summerson of Newtown; and construction inspection was done by Carroll Engineering Corp of Warrington.
