SOLON, OH — Police officers held a sobriety checkpoint in Solon on Saturday, screening drivers for signs of intoxication.
Officers inspected more than 600 cars between 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Only 11 cars were diverted by police for further examination, and while no drivers were found to be intoxicated, there were plenty of citations issued.

Fourteen Solon police officers and two auxiliary officers worked the checkpoint on SOM Center Road, according to Lt. Roy Cunningham of Solon police. Police received help from the Chagrin Valley Dispatch Center, Rich's Towing Oakwood Village, H&H Towing, and Chagrin Valley REACT.
