PIMA COUNTY, AZ — A standoff that lasted for several hours ended with one man in custody over the weekend.
According to the Pima County Sheriff's Office, around 4 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the 4000 block of North Pocito Place for a domestic violence call.
As deputies headed to the location, they learned a man, armed with a gun, had barricaded himself inside his home with two children.
After arriving at the home, deputies said they attempted to make contact with the man, identified as 37-year-old Sergio Tapia.
Deputies said they gave commands over a loudspeaker and at the front door, urging Tapia to peacefully surrender to authorities.
Nearly two hours later, Tapia came to the door with the children. He was tased during the encounter and taken into custody uninjured, according to the department.
The children were safely removed from the home and reunited with family.
Tapia has been charged with two counts of domestic violence aggravated assault.
