If it's funded with tax dollars, it's socialism; that's the crux of it and there's no getting around it. On the one hand, socialism is good because without those tax dollars to spend, we wouldn't have a central government, military, infrastructure, policing, public facilities, social safety net for the disabled, damaged veterans, the elderly and orphaned children. On the other hand, socialism is bad because there will always be people who try to game the system (I'm looking primarily at you, Congress).
