Description
Looking to start putting together a gigging band over the next few months. I'd like it to be unusual, the type of band that turns heads wherever we play. I'm open to lots of different instruments but I'm particularly into cello, any brass instruments, marimba, accordion, keyboard. Probably wouldn't be able to avoid having at least a bass (upright would be amazing) and an acoustic guitar. Stage volume would generally be quiet with a lot of changes in dynamics. The songs would almost exclusively be originals.
I'm not thinking of a full orchestra, more like 6 to 8 musicians. Ideally, we would play paying gigs at wineries and breweries in the region and maybe an occasional club show every other month.
The ideal bandmates in this project would understand that everything they do musically should be geared towards creating a rich atmospheric sound as opposed to simply showing off raw talent just to stroke the ego. Those who can also sing harmony would be amazing. It would be great to add a person or two who brings some songs of their own and bonus points if you can score music. Playing in a band should be fun and energizing for you.
I'm 51 and a drummer who knows how to play at the right volume for this type of band. I write fairly wide open melodic songs that can be adapted to various instruments. I can be a prolific songwriter when I have a band to write for.
If any of this is of interest to you, hit me up and I'll link you to a few of my past and current songs. I don't really have a timeline other than an interest in having 3 full sets ready by summer 2022.
