Description

Multimodal audiovisual immersive experience: installation-build, patent-pending audio technology invented by PhD candidate Ethan Castro. We’re past the point of no return. The only question remaining: what will happen? We are living on borrowed time as the Earth prepares to shed her skin and rid herself of the bothersome plague that humanity has become. What was once a pristine balance of life and rebirth has become stymied and distorted beyond repair due to human intervention. In true human fashion, we have imposed our arrogant will onto what has been, and always will be. Aurora reflects on the Earth’s journey from nothingness, to birth, to recovery, and beyond. What once was cyclical may no longer be so, as we look to the northern lights in search of escape, or coalescence with the nothingness from whence we came. This project is a three-movement multimodal audiovisual immersive theatrical installation work called Aurora designed to showcase the new and novel technology invented by PhD candidate Ethan Castro. The audio devices that the audio-visual immersive theatrical installation is designed to exhibit the full-frequency capabilities of tactile-resonant devices. In the rooms leading to the installation will be practical set design that develops the near and post-apocalyptic world in which the Aurora takes place featuring a sculpture by Vincent Zhang, and manufactured current event pieces following humanity’s descent into extinction written by Gabrielle Lee and Constantine Pappas. Climate experts from the University of California, Riverside suggest implementing a carbon tax as the most effective method of combating climate change at this moment.
