Photography SessionsPhotography Session details coming soon. Who will be leading the #STEJohnsonCity Photography Sessions? Jason Barnette—a member of our #STE family! “My childhood dream was to be an astronaut and my early adulthood hobby was woodworking. But after the grandmother gave me two Pentax K1000 camera bodies and an assortment of lenses in a weathered brown leather camera bag I gained an interest in photography. During my final year of my third time through college I worked as the university’s only student photographer capturing sports, portraits, and events. Since 2008, I have been capturing professional travel photography. I have been hired for assignments and my photography licensed for print by National Geographic Traveler, GQ Magazine, Budget Travel, dozens of CVBs, and the state tourism guide for South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. I love travel photography because it can be anything. Portraits, landscapes, sports, food, everything but weddings because I won’t photograph weddings. The purpose of travel photography is to use an image to tell the story of a destination. With each step I take at any destination I visit, I ask myself, “What story can I tell with my camera?” I have always found the adage “A picture is worth a thousand words” to be limiting. I think a great picture can be worth many more words than that. My work speaks for itself. Visit my Instagram feed to see my travel photography portfolio, or visit my photography website to see my greatest examples. Even better, visit my travel website to see how I use photography to supplement my writing while telling stories about destinations.” Check out Jason's Website and Photography.
