NORTHPORT, NY — Dozens of Northport High School students were honored at the district's annual Extracurricular Awards ceremony, according to a news release.
Students were recognized for their hard work in clubs and activities across all departments, including the Spanish club, Environment Team, Business Honor Society and band, among many others.
Teachers and administrators spoke to the accomplishments and positive attitudes that students bring to their activities. Some described the students' ability to pivot during the coronavirus pandemic while simultaneously making the best of it.
Principal Daniel Danbusky requested applause for the students who deserve "tremendousrecognition."
"Parents have been an integral part of this process, and we're celebrating the culmination of four years of involvement in activity," Danbusky said. "There is no shortage of research that shows students who get involved, and students who have that connection to their school, perform better. Please don't lose that desire to be involved."
Students each received a plaque of recognition to honor their achievements.
