MIDDLETOWN, CT — A shooting suspect from Southington was arrested after a pursuit that briefly shut down the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown on Sunday night, according to police.
Southington police notified Middletown police around 8 p.m. that they were pursuing a shooting suspect on I-691. The suspect was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado pickup truck that got off the highway and entered the Town of Middletown.
The suspect continued east onto Washington Street in Middletown, according to Middletown Lt. Brian Hubbs.
Hubbs said Middletown officers assisted in the pursuit and stop sticks were successful deployed.
"The stop sticks slowed the vehicle but the suspect continued east on Washington Street, turned north on Main Street, and entered the Arrigoni Bridge," Hubbs wrote in a news release. "A Southington officer was able to end the pursuit by forcing the suspect's vehicle off the road."
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and taken to New Britain General Hospital for minor injuries sustained during the crash, according to Hubbs.
Hubbs said no one else was injured.
The Arrigoni Bridge was briefly shut down while Southington police towed the suspect's vehicle, according to Hubbs.
