Bristol Bay Salmon Gillnet Season 2021 - Crew Wanted At a Glance: Compensation: 6-8% depending on experience and output Employment type: Independent Contractor - 1099 Looking for 1 crew member to work on a Bristol Bay gillnetter for the 2021 fishing season. When: Will be for 6/4/21 - 8/14/21 Where: Naknek, Bristol Bay, Alaska What: Worlds greatest commercial salmon fishing adventure Basic information including requirements: ~Must be 18 years of age or older W/valid drivers license* ~Since you will need a crew license must have a social security card or U.S. passport ~Resume/Cover letter and picture* ~Endurance to stand for long periods of time in extreme weather conditions ~Able to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly ~Able to deal with being hot/cold and wet while in a varying physical environment(s) ~Ability to work under the harshest of weather conditions ~Able to forgo sleep sometimes exceeding 20+ hours at a time for days in a row In addition to the above requirements crewman will be required to provide their own: -Airfare to and from Naknek Alaska -State of Alaska commercial fishing Crew license -Rain gear, boots and gloves etc. Important information: If you get hired you will arrive in Alaska around the first week of June. Upon arrival we will get the boat and gear ready for fishing. Once the yard work is complete we launch the vessel for the fishing season. Crew Shares: Crewman will be paid 6%-8% before expenses and then the standard deductions for expenses will be split (food/supplies/fuel etc....) In addition to the pay scale information a contract is provided for work aboard the vessel crew-members are insured for any physical damage that could occur as a result of the harsh work environment. Safety and good communication are key to a successful season. Description of fishing style: For any experienced crewman I generally fight the line in what ever district we fish in. Combat Fishing is usually the name of our game aboard our vessel, if you have already experienced this then you’re ahead of the game. I want to be sure that its understood that the vessel I run isn't for the faint of heart. If you are the type to give up at the onset of adversity you need not apply. Be willing to move between many varied jobs quickly and with effectiveness. If this all sounds too hard you will find yourself much happier in a different field of work that doesn't require any physical endurance, sacrifice, or stamina. You must be able to work in a high intensity environment with a small group of people and get along since were together for 6+ weeks in a small space. Arrival: We will sleep on the vessel for the duration of the work period/season. You will have your own bunk and split semi-private crew quarters on the boat. About your Captain: I grew up commercial fishing. I have done multiple commercial fisheries. I have experience in every aspect of this fishery, I captained 3 other vessels before this one. Final thoughts: If you give your best, learn quick and work hard you will do just fine. I require that we all bring our best everyday and we watch out for each other. Think you have what it takes?
