Description
LEMONT, IL — The Little Free Pantry in front of Lemont Library is now open, with the help from some local Scouts. The wooden box is filled with pantry items.
"The whole idea is give what you can, take what you need," Partnership and Programming Librarian Shannon Kazmierczak said.
Robert Zank, a member of Lemont's Troop 149, built the pantry for his Eagle Scout project.
The library, the Board of Trustees and the Scouts held a ribbon cutting for the pantry, which is open 24/7. There is a nice stock of items there, Kazmierczak said.
"[The pantry serves] as a little community base for the library," she said.
