But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, Golden State residents should know that California's workforce regulators have recommended that the state establish a July 31 deadline for updating coronavirus safety rules for employees across California, instead of aligning with Gov. Gavin Newsom's June 15 date to lift masking and social distancing requirements in the workplace. Cal/OSHA will consider newly revised guidelines this week. Under the proposed guidelines, fully vaccinated employees could forgo facemasks in a room where everyone else is vaccinated. But employers would need to supply N-95 masks for those who are not fully vaccinated. The extended masking requirement would also require employers to track vaccination status.
