PHOENIX, AZ — A man was hospitalized after exchanging gunfire with police Sunday evening in Phoenix, according to authorities. Officers said they were called to a home in the area of 39th Avenue at Thunderbird, where a man was violating a protective order around 5 p.m. Police said the man was armed with a gun, and he and one officer traded gunfire. The individual, who was shot, was taken to the hospital, according to Sgt. Ann Justus of the Phoenix Police Department. Justus said the officer was unharmed. The condition of the man who had been shot was not immediately available. At about 5:00 p.m., Officers were called to a house near 39th Ave and Thunderbird for a man who was violating an order of protection. The man was armed with a gun and exchanged gunfire with an officer. No injuries to the officer.
