A Shine Capsule is like a time capsule, except the artifacts and items included revolve exclusively around a child's SHINE. SHINE stands for Strengths, Hobbies, Interests & Irritants, Needs, and Experiences. It's a snapshot in time. A perfect account of who they are now.  Shine Capsules are sealed so that 10, 20, or 30 years from now, young people can look back and remember their Essential selves -- who they were and what they loved doing - before their social circle influenced what they know about themselves. In this session, each child will create their own Shine Capsule, place evidence of their SHINE inside, and then seal the capsule to be opened on their high school graduation day. The Shine Capsule experience is designed for students in grades 3 - 5. House of Shine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to help people from age 5 to 95 discover who they are and why their contribution to the world matters.
