Our location is the chapel at St. John Lutheran Church. The church is located at the intersection of Spring Cypress and Huffmeister Rds. Entry and parking on the Spring Crypress side of the campus and the chapel entrance is near the historic bell installation and flag poles. Players are grouped by ability into sections of four(4) to eight(8).
Doors open at 6:30 P.M., check-in until 6:45 P.M. and play starts at 7:00 P.M.
Late check-ins will not be paired in the first round.
We normally play three rounds of chess and finish between 9:00 and 9:30.
Most of our chess players are still in school. We do allow adults to play, but we reserve trophies for the scholastic players.
We require chess players to be members of US Chess Federation (USCF), but we can sign you up after you arrive.
Most of our chess players are novices or intermediate in skill level. By novice I mean they have just learned to play. Our intermediate players have been playing for 2-4 years and have a 1000-1300 rating.
We charge $5 per player at the door each week, $8 for two members of the same family and $2 for each additional immediate (parents, grandparents and siblings) family member.
A US Chess Federation (USCF) scholastic membership is $10/year.
