How to make a new friend?

I used to know how to do this. Dont go to church. Not a Shriner. I tried AA. I wouldnt even drink with those people. I play golf, table tennis and swim most days. I can hold a lucid conversation on ethics, culture, economics without claiming to know any more than the next guy. I dont care who you love. I think being well mannered and interested in people around you is important. I think Im pretty flexible and willing to give more than I ask. Am I a candidate for a middle 60's friend? Im healthy, enthusiastic, can tie my own shoes. Id sure like to earn a friendship or two before its all over. Does anyone else have a shortage of friends? jp
