Come get covered in colors and enjoy live music and drinks all in the name of raising money for Adrenal Cortical Cancer (ACC) research! The Breanne Sleater Memorial Foundation, alongside the Rib Mountain Taphouse, presents the second annual 5K (walk/run) Color Me For A Cure on August 28th, starting at 3:00pm. This will be a fun afternoon of running or walking a path looping through the town of Rib Mountain and being covered in a rainbow of colors. During the walk/run you will have the opportunity to learn a little bit about the deadly and aggressive disease, Adrenal Cortical Cancer. The run will end back at the Taphouse, where music will entertain you! Food will begin at 5pm. There will be drinks as well as raffles and a game that guarantees players a bottle of wine (who wouldn’t want to play that?). All of this is put on in memory of Breanne Sleater (Hanson) a member of the Wausau community since birth. Breanne bravely fought ACC for over a year of her too-short life and as lost to us at only age 24. Dr. Gary Hammer, at the University of Michigan Hospital is the leading researcher on Adrenal Cortical Cancer and was Breanne’s lead doctor during her battle. Every penny we raise through this event will go directly to Dr. Hammer’s team at the U of M to help fund further research on lifesaving and life-prolonging drugs to help others fighting ACC be able to get precious more time with their own loved ones. We hope that someday we will be able to see Dr. Hammer find a way to permanently prolong the lives of those battling this aggressive disease and for now, we hope to help other mothers, fathers, sister, brothers, friends and others that love someone fighting ACC to have more time to give and receive that love. We hope you’ll join in the fun on August 28th, and make this one a night to remember! T-shirt and event information pickup will be available on the day of the event at 3:00, Rib Mountain Taphouse. Race starts at 4:00!
