Black and Latin X educators and Community Leaders In Support of Eric Adams. Our voice is the voice that matters. If you are concerned about the systemic barriers within the New York City Department of Education that disproportionately effect Black and LatinX children, This is the event for you! Black and LatinX Educators and Community Leader schools in New York City are in a state of emergency ! This evidence by: African American students are less likely than white students to have access to college-ready courses.Black and Latino students represent 38 percent of students in schools that offer AP courses, but only 29 percent of students enrolled in at least one AP course. Black and Latino students also have less access to gifted and talented education programs than white students.African American students are often located in schools with less qualified teachers, teachers with lower salaries and novice teachers. Black students are nearly two times as likely to be suspended without educational services as white students.Students of color are often concentrated in schools with fewer resources. Schools with 90 percent or more students of color spend $733 less per student per year than schools with 90 percent or more white students.Eric Adams has a not only a proven track record of supporting our schools that are most need. He has a plan to address current inequities in the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). Eric will: Significantly expand learning options in the summer to prevent the summer slide and provide parents with more choices.Invest in equity by directing far more capital dollars and programmatic funding into struggling districts.Creating the world’s best remote learning experienceIdentifying and supporting students with disabilities and other learning challenges.Providing healthy eating options and social services directly in schools.Creating more culturally-aware classrooms.Providing childcare for every parent who needs it.Greatly increasing job training in high schools and matching students with internships and employers.Creating a mentorship program for youth aging out of foster care.This coalition of Black and LatinX are tax paying New York City residence that are most qualified to address the academic, social and emotional need of Black and LatinX student. We will not allow other to speak for us. We are coming together behind the clear choice for Mayor of New York City.
