Stars at Antler Square: Save Our Square fundraising concert event featuring Whey Jennings and Jesse Keith Whitley! The Antler Historical Society invites you to a night of Stars at Antler Square, a once-in-a-lifetime concert event featuring country legends Whey Jennings and Jesse Keith Whitley! The city of Antler, North Dakota, was founded in 1905 with the construction of the railroad bringing pioneers and businessmen to the prairie. In that same year, the town square building was constructed to house the State Bank of Antler. Over the years, the Antler town square building has served as the post office, telephone office, boarding house, customs office, and as a private residence. In 1988 it earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. In all of North Dakota, only 4 towns were constructed in a hub-style manner, with a prominent town square building at the center, and the Antler town square building is the only original building still standing. We think that is something worth saving. The Antler Historical Society is overseeing fundraising efforts to not only preserve the town square building, but to turn it into a museum to preserve Antler area history and the World's Largest Historical Quilt. 100% of the proceeds from this concert will go to save the Antler town square building. Whey Jennings grew up in a family full of country music royalty. His grandfather, the legendary Waylon Jennings and grandmother Jessi Colter both had major success in the major music charts for decades. Jennings is a "rough around the edges, unpolished singer" with a voice as big as Texas. He couldn't go pop with a mouth full of crackers! Jennings is the oldest son of his mother Katherine and father Terry Jennings. Whey has always had a deep love for music since the first time he stepped foot on stage. Country to the core with rock & roll's rebellious reputation, Jesse Keith Whitley is a modern day outlaw refusing to follow anyone's rules. The only son of Keith Whitley and Lorrie Morgan, Jesse Keith Whitley - deemed a child of country music royalty - undoubtedly has music in his veins and a star-like persona. Jesse Keith Whitley may have made headlines with his family, but he has proved his own in his latest album. The concert will be held outdoors in Antler Square on Sunday, August 8th, with festivities beginning at 4pm and the main acts beginning at 6pm. We are expecting anywhere between 500 – 1,500 attendees. To accommodate the large crowd, food trucks will be on site, along with a beer garden serving beverages. Tickets are $30 presale and $40 at the door. For more information on the Antler Historical Society, visit www.AntlerND.com or check out our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Antler.Town.Square/.
