Wood Shop Assistant Needed - Flexible Hours

We are Greenport Construction, inc. - a premier design and build woodshop in San Rafael, serving SF and North Bay clients. You can find us at www.greenportdesigns.com to learn more about us. This position is for our shop located in San Rafael. The hours are flexible but we do not require more than 20 hours a week for the time being. Our shop needs someone to take on the task of keeping the shop organized and clean. This role includes a variety of tasks including maintaining inventory for our tools and keeping the shop dust free. The person applying for this position can be an entry level wood shop apprentice who has an interest in working with their hands and creative design, or for the person looking to add to their current work load, student, etc. We are a small family owned business, 50% of our current staff are POC and we encourage women to apply. Culture of the shop is important to us, bring us your positive energy. We would love to entertain the idea of this role turning into more (responsibility over projects) as the relationship grows, but not necessary to apply here. You are a team player and someone who picks up the pieces when they've fallen in the shop. This can mean sorting garbage or sharpening blades. You represent someone who has a knack for organization and consistency. You are open minded and take direction without hesitation, you are eager to learn and interested in the details. You can lift up to 55 pounds and take the lead for this role; you are a self starter and collaborator. You've got better ideas than we do about how to make the shop better! The position pays $20/hr to start with a pay increase schedule for the first year, depending on experience and growth.
