WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A man tried to force his way into an occupied Western Springs house Thursday, but left after the resident's dog was alerted, police said. The incident happened about 6 p.m. in the 200 block of 47th Street, police said. The man attempted to enter the locked front door of the house by using force with his shoulder, according to a Western Springs police news release. After the dog was alerted, the man headed east on 47th. Police said there is no apparent threat to the public. The investigation into the incident continues. The suspect was described as African American, 6 feet to 6-foot-1, having a thin build, and wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.
