Join musicians Yemanjo & Ahmed Ragab as they take you on a sound journey through Baraka
Baraka (1992) is a seminal non-narrative documentary directed by Ron Fricke and filmed in lush 70mm in 24 countries. The film is a meditation on human society and its relationship to, and impact on, the natural world. From the traditional ceremonies of Brazilian tribes deep in the Amazon jungle, to chanting monks in Tibet and hyper-futuristic Tokyo subway systems, this remarkable and affecting film chronicles humanity in all its joy, pain and potential. Ben Harris aka Yemanjo has been screening Baraka and its sequel, Samsara, with a live original soundtrack since 2014 and will be joined by special guest Ahmed Ragab from Egypt on Oud. The musicians combine live looping, multiple instruments and DJ beat science to create a one-of-a-kind musical experience to compliment this indelible film.
