The Paper Tigers is an award-winning kung-fu dramedy, directed by Bao Tran, that has hit critical success, earning 100% Certified Fresh status and named #10 Best Asian American Film of All-Time by Rotten Tomatoes. The film is currently in select theaters and all digital platforms, including Apple TV, iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, XBOX, Sony Playstation, and much more.
The film includes a leading trio of Alain Uy (Marvel’s Helstrom), Ron Yuan (Disney’s Mulan, Marco Polo), and Mykel Shannon Jenkins (Undisputed III: Redemption) as three childhood friends who must avenge the death of their beloved kung fu master, played by Roger Yuan (John Wick 3) except now, they are middle-aged and out of shape.
The film also features Jae Suh Park (Friends from College, Never Have I Ever), Matthew Page (Master Ken of Enter the Dojo), Andy Le (Wu Tang: An American Saga, Martial Club), Brian Le (Wu Tang: An American Saga, Martial Club), Phillip Dang of 102 Productions, Joziah Lagonoy (Fuller House, Becoming Eddie), and Raymond Ma (Always Be My Maybe).
The Paper Tigers is produced by Michael Velasquez, Al’n Duong, Yuji Okumoto, and Daniel Gildark. The production team endured a 10 year journey that included fighting Hollywood studios for their control to cast people of color as the leading cast and finishing the film during the raging pandemic. The film was developed in part by the Frontiéres Platform at the Cannes Film Festival/Marché du Film, an incubator for genre films around the world.
