Delaware Tech's baseball team finished the 2021 season with a dramatic runner-up finish in the 2021 NJCAA Region 19 Championship Tournament, May 14-15 in Pennsylvania.
Delaware Tech entered the tournament as the third seed, and pulled off a 6-3 upset in 10 innings over second-seeded Raritan Valley College in the opening round. Freshman Wade Brooks pitched eight innings with nine strikeouts, while freshman Ethan Watkinson hit two two-run home runs, and freshman Jonathan Golebiowski also hit a two-run home run.
After falling 9-3 to top seed Lackawanna College, Delaware Tech rebounded with an amazing 10-9 win over Sussex County Community College in 12 innings. Down 9-5 with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Delaware Tech rallied to tied the game at 9-9 with a two-RBI double from freshman Dylan Nibblett, followed by a two-RBI single by sophomore Samuel Muniz. Golebiowski led off the 12th inning with a single and Watkinson doubled to score Golebiowski for the walk off win. Sophomore Alex Reedy picked up the win in a relief performance.
In the championship game against Lackawanna College, the multiple extra inning games caught up to Delaware Tech, and the team lost 22-8. Muniz and sophomore Matt Marandola both hit doubles, and Nibblett had four hits.
