Description
TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Police Department is teaming up with the town's Animal Control office, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Wildlife Division and other wildlife experts to monitor the recent increase in black bear sightings in town.
Local authorities "have been continually receiving complaints" about bears in recent weeks, particularly from residents in the northern section of town.
"The animals have been causing alarm with residents, due to their close proximity to homes and curious behavior that is unusually close to neighbors, where they are likely searching for food," police said.
Officials are coordinating efforts to document the sightings and provide important safety information to residents on what to do, and how to limit the attraction of bears to their property.
Below are resources for residents to learn more about coexisting with bears.
