These are part-time position(s) which will not exceed a maximum of 990 hours per City fiscal year (July through June). Employment Lists shall remain in effect for one year, unless terminated or exhausted. The Employment List generated for this recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies while the List remains active. Maintenance Aide performs a wide variety of routine tasks in connection with cleaning, maintenance, and repair of streets, sewers, parks, equipment, public buildings and related City facilities; performs related work as required. Education: High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED). Experience: No specific experience is required, however, some general maintenance background and some experience in the particular assigned area is highly desired. Knowledge of: •Safe and proper use of common hand tools in the performance of basic maintenance tasks; and •Principles and practices of work safety. Ability to: •Establish and maintain a positive customer service attitude and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; •Understand and follow written and oral instructions; •Learn in an on-the-job training format; •Use common hand tools in the daily performance of job duties; •Perform physical labor with sufficient strength, stamina and coordination; and •Learn to operate power equipment such as push mowers, edgers, weed eaters, chippers, and vacmasters Licenses/certifications/other requirements: •Must be willing to work such hours as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements; travel to attend meetings, seminars and conferences; and •Classification requires the possession and continued maintenance of a valid class "C" California driver's license for operating a motor vehicle. The selected candidate will be subjected to a background investigation which may include, but not be limited to, a personal and employment history assessment, criminal history check, financial background check, medical, polygraph and psychological testing.
