Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: May 28, 2021 Shreve Memorial Library is taking its Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program outside this summer.  Children, teens, adults, and readers of all ages are encouraged to explore outdoor activities such as DAT Does the Trick, Little You Yoga, and nature programs with Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park.  Live repeat performances will take place outside on the grounds of library branches throughout Caddo Parish. Social distancing and masks for all patrons age 8 years and older are required to attend outdoor programs at Shreve Memorial Library. All programs are free and open to the public. Starting Wednesday, June 2, Summer Reading participants can head outside and enjoy the live magical performances of DAT Does the Trick. This program amazes audiences with balloon animals and magic tricks. Performances are fun for all ages and will leave audiences anxiously awaiting more. DAT Does the Trick performances are as follows: Wednesday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at North Caddo Branch, 615 N. Pine Street, Vivian Friday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Means Branch, 7016 Magnolia Lane, Ida Tuesday, June 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Oil City Branch, 102 Allen Street, Oil City Saturday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop Wednesday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. at West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road Monday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Main Branch, 424 Texas Street Friday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Wallette Branch, 363 Hearne Avenue Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park staff will present live outdoor nature programs featuring plants, animals, and all things nature. These programs are interactive, helping attendees connect with nature. The programs will take place as scheduled:  Friday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Atkins Branch, 3704 Greenwood Road Tuesday, June 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Gilliam Branch, 12797 Main Street, Gilliam Wednesday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. at David Raines Branch, 2855 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Wednesday, June 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Mooringsport Branch, 603 Latimer Street, Mooringsport Saturday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch, 2105 Hollywood Avenue Summer Reading Program participants may also experience ways to manage anxiety, regulate emotions, find self-awareness, and improve concentration, memory and flexibility with Little You Yoga. The programs will take place in the mornings at 10:00 a.m. on the campus of the following branches:   Friday, June 11 at Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch, 8303 Line Avenue Monday, June 14 at Mooretown Branch, 4360 Hollywood Avenue Friday, June 18 at North Shreveport Branch, 4844 North Market Street Saturday, June 19 at Broadmoor Branch, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive Wednesday, June 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Blanchard Branch, 344 Alexander Street, Blanchard In addition, several Shreve Memorial Library branches will host outdoor storytime programs in conjunction with the Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program. On Tuesday, June 15, the North Shreveport Branch will host "Hooray for Hippos! Outdoor Storytime" at 10:00 a.m. and the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch will host "Tales from the Tub: Splish Splash Tales of Creatures with Tails" on Wednesday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m. Both programs are open to children of all ages. Shreve Memorial Library's Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program starts June 1 and runs through July 31. This year's Summer Reading Program theme encourages children, teens, adults, and families to explore the animal kingdom while enjoying amazing tales.
