CHATHAM, NJ — The Library of the Chathams is looking for Chatham Borough or Township military veterans who would like to share their written, audio or video stories; or who could even donate military artifacts to the library, for the Veterans Project of the Chathams.
According to Robert Schriek, a spokesperson for the library, the request for these historically-significant items kicks off on Memorial Day, with both government bodies in Chatham Borough and Township having each declared the month of May, "Military Appreciation Month."
"The Veterans Project committee members thought that the time between Memorial Day and Veterans Day would be a good time to request stories and raise awareness of our local veterans," Schriek said.
The project's page indicates Chatham residents who served in periods of either peacetime or wartime are welcome to contribute stories. Should a member of the military have died while serving, family members are also invited to submit stories about their loved ones.
