2-Year-old Seriously Injured In Plainfield Road Crash

CREST HILL, IL — A 2-year-old child suffered serious injuries during a crash along Plainfield Road at the intersection of Sweetbriar Avenue that sent four people to the hospital, authorities in Crest Hill announced Friday. The wreck happened at 5:07 p.m. and caused police to close a section of Plainfield Road for several hours on Thursday night as police investigated the wreck involving a Chevy Equinox and someone driving a Pontiac G6. According to Crest Hill police, the driver of the Pontiac, a front-seat passenger and the driver's 2-year-old passenger, were all taken by ambulance to AMITA Health Adventist in Bolingbrook. The 2-year-old was later taken to the University of Chicago's Corner Children's Hospital. On Friday, the driver and passenger were listed in stable condition, and the 2-year-old remained in serious condition, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said. The driver of the Chevy Equinox was taken to Joliet's St. Joe's hospital and is in stable condition, police said. According to Crest Hill police, the Pontiac G6 was headed eastbound along Plainfield Road and struck the Chevy Equinox that was turning left onto Plainfield Road from Sweetbriar Avenue. The Will County Sheriff's Office was on the scene of Thursday's wreck and performing a reconstruction of the crash.
