beware of this scam- verify secure code

i got a text from this number stating "for my safety, i will send a 6-digit number then reply me with the same number to make sure you are real." This scheme is to hack your email, personal info or bank accounts; the person will try to log on to your account (any type of account you have) and use recovery method for password as enter your code from the cellphone; that's why they want you to reply back to them with the secure code sent to your phone while trying to log on to your account. Beware- this modus operandi scams a lot of people. FYI. Thanks!!!
