Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. If you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About the 2nd & 7 Foundation: To promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward. The 2nd & 7 Foundation was founded in 1999 by three former OSU football players – Luke Fickell, Ryan Miller and Mike Vrabel - who wanted to continue to give back to their community. Since 1999, The 2nd & 7 Foundation has given away over 400,000 books to kids in need all across the country. The 'Tackling Illiteracy' reading program began in central Ohio and is now being implemented in communities all over the nation. As a part of this program, college or high school student-athletes visit 2nd graders in local elementary schools to read to them, talk about the importance of their education and give every child a free book to take home. The focus is on schools with high populations of students on free or reduced lunch plans or communities that need it the most. A donation of just $25 allows us to ship 120 books to a school anywhere in the country. About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your event leader or [email protected].
