Join us at dusk for a performance and talkback with chamber music group Les Cenelles.
Les Cenelles is a contemporary string ensemble exploring the Creole diaspora through melody and memory to honor our cultural ancestors and preserve the plurality of their experiences through a prismatic and contemporary lens. As part of Seeds & Beats 2021, they will be playing a longer-form piece with narration from Ms. Sharon Lavigne called "RISE." Ms. Lavigne is a community leader and activist with RISE St. James.
Following the performance, there will be a talkback with the musicians, facilitated by Antenna Interim Executive Director Shana griffin and Water Leaders Institute Co-Lead Aron Chang. This event is co-hosted with the New Orleans Center for the Gulf South.
This event will be outside, on the grass, and we encourage everyone to bring a blanket to sit on. This event is part of Seeds & Beats 2021: Reflections and Explorations on Water, Ecology, and Infrastructure. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Native Wildflower Meadow and also the Water Map New Orleans/Water Map Bulbancha project.
COVID 19: Please dress for the weather, and follow all public health guidelines for masks and social distancing, and do not join if you’re experiencing any symptoms of illness. We will have hand sanitizer and extra masks on hand. Questions? Please contact [email protected] or call (949) 981-9159.
