MARLBOROUGH, MA — FBI agents on Thursday morning in Marlborough arrested a Philadelphia man wanted in connection to the 2020 burning of a Pennsylvania state police cruiser, authorities said. Lester Fulton Smith, 26, was set to be charged with two counts of arson and obstruction of law enforcement, prosecutors said. The burning of the police cruiser happened on May 30, 2020, amid nationwide protests over police brutality following the murder of George Floyd. According to police, protesters broke into two state police SUVs blocking an Interstate 676 on-ramp and stole road flares. The flares were then used to light one of the SUVs on fire. A second man, Ayoub Tabri, 25, of Arlington, Va., was arrested in October in connection to the arson. An unidentified 15-year-old from Framingham was arrested and charged last June after he helped light a Boston police SUV on fire during a protest on May 31, according to prosecutors. Tabri and Smith face a minimum of seven years in prison and fines up to $750,000, according to federal prosecutors.
