Come celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month at the Ferguson Library Main Library on Sunday, June 6 from 1:30 to 7 p.m. The event (schedule below) will take place on the library plaza at the corner of Broad and Bedford Streets, Stamford. For more information, call 203 351-8231. 1:30 p.m. – Chinese Dance Group – Performances by Connecticut Chinese Dance Group (Dance Teacher: Alison Wang) Sun of the Morning Melody in Shanghai (Chinese Classic Dance) - This dance showcases the artistry and aesthetic of daily life - the "flames" of everyday life, focusing on the "hidden" elegance, sophistication, comforting and routine gestures of day-to-day living that may go unnoticed. Dao La (Mongolian Dance) - "Dao La" is based on Mongolian folk songs. It is a singing-oriented dance form. 3 p.m. – Polish Dance – Performances by Słowianie Polish Folklore Dance GroupThe Krakowiak - A fast, syncopated Polish dance (also known as the Cracovienne), is from the region of Kraków and Lesser Poland.Trojak - Dances done in groups of three, Trojak is from Silesia. Its songs and dances are simpler, yet very similar to those of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.Tance Lubelskie - The Lublin area is one of the more colorful of all the Polish regions, with costumes made with a variety of different colored materials and ribbons. 4 p.m. Taller Portal Norteño - Traditional dances of Peru. 5 to 7 p.m. Vigil of Light in Times of Pandemic - In memory of victims of COVID-19.
