Mental Health Month Open House at CCHR Florida Since 1949 May has been observed as Mental Health Month for the stated purpose of educating people on mental health issues, prompting the Florida chapter of CCHR ( Citizens Commission on Human Rights) to host an open house for the purpose of educating the general public on the dangers associated with psychiatric drugs. Located within CCHR Florida's headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, this compelling exhibit chronicles the past few centuries of history of mental health treatment and the track record of psychiatric profession. Psychiatric treatment is one of the most lucrative businesses in the world and according to information from IMS Health, a company that provides information, services and technology for the healthcare industry, there are over 76 million people taking psychiatric drugs. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Participants will understand the history of where the origins of the psychiatric profession. 2. Participants will be able to describe the various types of treatment mental health patients were subjected to throughout history. 3. Participants will be able to identify the basic human rights impacted by the psychiatric profession and its consequences. 4. Participants will be provided with action steps to protect themselves, their children, and all those impacted by an incorrect diagnosis. DIRECTIONS & SCHEDULE The public is invited to come to the center to learn more about psychiatric drug side effects, the Florida mental health law, the Baker Act and for a tour of the Psychiatry: An Industry of Death museum. The museum is free to the public and is open seven days a week WHEN: 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm every day from Monday 31 May until Friday 4 June.
