Press release from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library: May 26, 2021 The East Baton Rouge Parish Library and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) are pleased to announce the launch of a new partnership for library patrons. Starting November 1, 2020, SLLS will offer a free virtual library legal clinic to eligible library patrons for civil cases. The legal clinic is focused on assisting low-income families and individuals with civil legal issues. Federal income guidelines are used to determine eligibility for legal representation. Legal Issues Covered Include: Evictions Landlord-Tenant Disputes Federal Tax Issues Employment Public Benefits (SNAP and Food Stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security) Foreclosures Bankruptcies Consumer Issues Divorces and More The clinic does not handle personal injury, criminal cases, or malpractice cases.
