Description
OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School is in urgent need for a career and technical education (CTE) teacher for the 2021-2022 school year, beginning August 2021. The CTE will teach automotive and graphic design, but the position can be split between people depending on the needs of classes.
The number of graduates coming out of the education programs is lower than it has been. Oak Lawn Community High School's Project Lead the Way engineering program has taken off, and the high school is expanding the department to accommodate this.
Due to the shortage of teachers in Illinois, candidates with previous work experience in specific fields can obtain an alternate certification and become a CTE teacher in August. OLCHS can help qualified candidates become certified and employed at the school.
Interested candidates may qualify if they have 8,000 or more work hours in construction, automotive, graphic design or related fields. For more information visit Illinois State Board of Education CTE or contact OLCHS principal Dr. Jeaana Lietz at 708-741-5616 or [email protected].
"We are trying to get as much exposure for this CTE teaching position," OLCHS assistant principal Marcus Wargin said. "It is also a great opportunity for community members with career experience to get into education."
The high school is planning on a full return when classes resumes in August.
