JOLIET, IL — The city of Joliet announced on Thursday Toronto native Eva-Marie Tropper will become the new director of community development effective June 1. Some of Tropper's revious roles include planning positions with the cities of Naperville, Orland Park and most recently, the City of Chicago, the city of Joliet said. Tropper served as a project manager with the City of Chicago. Tropper holds a bachelor's in urban and economic geography, a master's in planning with a specialization in urban and regional planning, and she is receiving her MBA specializing in corporate strategy and execution from the University of Notre Dame the week of June 7. Originally from the city of Toronto, Canada, Tropper's personal interests involve culture and place and philanthropy and ice hockey. Tropper fills the vacancy created by the December retirement of Kendall Jackson. In December, Joliet Patch reported that the salary range for the job vacancy was $127,875 to $178,322. The community development department director oversees planning, organizing, directing, budgeting and supervising of the department employees and programs.
