CHICAGO — The family of a 1-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the West Side early Thursday is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identity of the driver. Police said a black Chrysler 300 was speeding near the 300 block of South Western Avenue when it crashed into a black Toyota at 12:02 a.m. The driver hit several more parked cars before jumping from his vehicle and running away. He is not in custody. Jamyah Harris, 1, and two other women were sitting in the Toyota. Jamyah was taken to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. Chicago philanthropist Early Walker joined the family at a news conference, where he announced the cash reward for the arrest and conviction of the driver. There, members from Jamyah's family pleaded with the public to recognize the incident as more than a simple hit-and-run. "This should be on every Chicagoan's radar," Walker said in a statement. "I'm hopeful that with the reward money, phones will begin to ring within the offices of the Chicago Police Department."
