A 6-week training in mindfulness and compassion practices for teens ages 13 - 18 years old.
Being a teen can be really stressful! Whether it’s adapting to physical changes associated with puberty, managing schoolwork, packed schedules, relationships with friends and family or just dealing with the challenges of modern living, teens can feel overwhelmed at moments.
Many teens need greater internal resources to handle all that life demands.
Mindfulness can help teens navigate the journey of adolescence with greater resilience and focus. Research suggests mindfulness practices can help young people to develop better attention, self-regulation, perspective-taking, empathy, stronger relationships, and lower rates of anxiety and depression.
In this six-week class, participants learn about the formal and informal practices of mindfulness, as well as the heartful practices of loving-kindness and compassion. They will explore how to meet the challenges of being a teen with greater awareness, kindness and compassion for themselves and others.
Weekly classes include time for:
* Mindful movement and meditation
* Presentations about the principles of mindfulness and heartfulness
* Writing prompts and contemplative journaling
* Group discussion
