Join us for Estill's first, Juneteenth Celebration Market Place Event! Local Black Businesses! Free Food (while it lasts)! DJ! Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This news came two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Hence, 165 years later, we are still celebrating the freedom of our ancestors and the role they played in our existence. What better way to pay homage than to support and patronize our fellow Black Businesses. Our Juneteenth Market Place will be held on Saturday June 19th at Occasions Boutique & Market Place in Estill, SC. The goal is to garner attention and support from our local neighbors while providing our unique goods and services. Though, we are a little late in the game with planning, with you, our vendors, this event is sure to be a success! 15 vendor spots are allotted for this event; with your choice of indoor or outdoor; these spots are first come, first serve. Tables will be provided for the 1st ten vendors. There will be music and finger foods for the enjoyment of our guests and vendors. Remember, the intention is for all of us to win so it is crucial that we invite everyone within our networks and make solid connections on the day of the event.
