OverviewThis course is a 70 hour national certification training with 30 didactic or classroom hours, and 40 supervised treatment hours completed at your own pace. The 30 classroom hours are covered in-person over 3 days from 9am to 5pm and includes reading and homework assignments. Cost for course participation and certification is $400 per person. Included in course:Course instruction, ADS manual, needles and all other treatment materials needed for the 30 hours theory. Supervised training after the didactic period is completed. 1 year NADA ADS annual membership fee. 1 box of needles for 40 practice hours (40 treatments). Details:What happens in a National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), ear acu- puncture for behavioral health, "Acudetox", training?The NADA training is 70 hours. 30 of this is didactic – covered by the three day training plus homework/reading assignments. The remaining 40 hours is really 40 supervised needlings (treating 40 people under supervision).Upon completion of the three days, you will become an associate member of the NADA organization. Your application fee/first year membership is included in the trainingfee. Once you have completed your 40 supervised treatments, and submit a reflection paper on training, you will receive a certificate of completion of training from NADA and will then be an Acudetox Specialist (ADS).This course is given by a National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) regis- tered trainer.Eligibility for NADA ADS training:Individuals 18 years or older in the state of Colorado may receive certification in NADA ADS training. The practice of acudetox is generally regulated by state agencies and it is up to the individual to ascertain whether it is legal for non-acupuncturist ADSes to per- form the acudetox technique in his or her jurisdiction. This amount also includes the application fee and one-year membership to NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association), as well as a subscription to the member newsletter, Guidepoints, which comes out quar- terly.FAQ’s• What kind of credential will I have after completing the training? You will receivea Certificate of Training Completion as a NADA Acudetox Specialist (ADS) • Who can supervise the treatments? Any ADS can supervise you. During the train- ing you will be supervised by Registered Trainers. After the initial training weekend you can request an ADS to meet with you to supervise the remainder of the treat- ments needed for certification.• Is it important to recruit volunteers for the training? Yes. You will be practicing on each other (fellow trainees) and your volunteers. The more volunteers you have the more supervised treatments you can complete during the training period. • Who is an appropriate volunteer? Most trainees recruit friends and family members but you could recruit church members, business associates, club members, etc.• Can children be volunteers? Yes. Sometimes a child will not want needles and you can use seeds or magnets instead.• What should I wear to the in-person training? Casual clothes are fine. Closed toes shoes are required. We ask for no scents to be worn because of sensitivities. Dress should be modest without dangling jewelry.• What’s included in the fee? The training fee includes class materials, manual, train- ing, clean needle kit, apron, 1 year membership to NADA, and some needles.• Are there any additional costs? Yes.
