YONKERS, NY — Police were already on alert after a string of late night tire dumping incidents in parks in Yonkers, and say the culprit accused in this latest illegal dumping attempt wasn't going to get away with it this time. A Bronx man who was preparing to dump a load of tires in a county-owned park in Yonkers was arrested early Tuesday morning, according to Westchester County Police. Investigators eventually charged the suspect in connection with three other incidents in which tires were dumped on county property in Yonkers and a city park. Yonkers police spotted a U-Haul truck near the entrance to county property off Midland Avenue just after 1 a.m. Because of the spate of recent tire dumping incidents, Westchester County Police were called to investigate. Westchester County Police found that the U-Haul in question contained a load of tires. The truck was impounded and the driver was taken into custody. Jose Rivera-Osorio is accused of dumping tires on April 30 in Sunnybrook Park, on May 6 in Tibbetts Brook Park and on May 20 on the county-owned bike and walking path adjacent to the Bronx River Parkway near Scarsdale Road. A fourth charge stems from the 38-year-old's alleged intent to dump more tires early Tuesday on the county-owned property near Midland Avenue. The recreation path leading to the Flynn Footbridge spanning across the Cross County Parkway is located at this park area. Rivera-Osorio was charged with four misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and intent to damage property. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Yonkers City Court on June 8.
