Award-winning Ron Wimmer Earns Top Ten Status From WPPA

Earlier this month, Ron Wimmer, owner and artist at Wimmer Photography was chosen as one of Wisconsin's Top Ten Photographers. He also had four of his prints merited in the Print Competition, where two were selected for the Elite Loan Collection. This status was awarded by the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association (WPPA), a 125-year-old nonprofit professional organization. Wimmer said, "To compete against the very best in the state and to make the Top Ten list is quite an honor. To be recognized by one's clients is incredibly rewarding but to be recognized by your peers and mentors is significant. Then to have two of your images selected for the Elite Collection is icing on the cake. It has validated everything I have worked for." The images will be published after October 2021, after the National Print Competition, and will also be highlighted in the WPPA's Elite Collection going forward. Early on, Wimmer joined the U.S. Navy and became a naval photographer for five years. Traveling the world via aircraft carrier, Wimmer photographed in several foreign countries, including being catapulted and landing (recovered) aboard an aircraft carrier. Photographing out of helicopters was a favorite. A former president of the South Eastern Professional Photographers Association and a member of the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association, he is currently completing his Master Photographer's Degree.
