You will get a call back Location address: 1875 S Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ. 85248 Key Duties and Responsibilities Pest Control Technician will be responsible for ensuring the health and quality of all nursery stock by monitoring, preventing, and managing pest and disease infestations throughout the nursery. This will include the routine use of pesticides, including herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, and miticide. All pesticide applications must be completed in adherence with the Agricultural Worker Protection Standard. Specific duties will include: · Scouting for pest infestations and diseases on trees and shrubs · Selecting and implementing appropriate control methods, including cultural, mechanical, and chemical control · Reading and interpreting pesticide labels · Mixing and applying pesticides safely and effectively · Cleaning and maintaining pesticide application equipment · Applying fertilizer, sun protection, and frost protection when needed · Adhering to all protocols to ensure safety of coworkers and clients · Assisting with other nursery duties as needed When pest management is not required in the yard, the Pesticide Technician will be expected to take on additional yard responsibilities. Examples of these may include: · Trimming and pruning trees · Organizing shrubs and other inventory · Watering plant material · Loading/unloading shipments of plants Requirements · Experience working outdoors in pest management, nursery, farming, natural resource, or landscaping industries (1 year) · Experience applying pesticides strongly preferred; training will be provided for right candidate · Able to lift and carry 50 lbs · Able to work outdoors fulltime in heat and inclement weather · Able to read and write in English or Spanish Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities · Familiarity with common pests of trees and shrubs preferred but not required · Basic knowledge of plant biology beneficial · Able to follow detailed protocols safely and efficiently · Excellent time management and attention to detail · Able to work independently to accomplish projects in a timely manner · Comfortable calculating basic application rates of pesticides · Ability to communicate in Spanish beneficial but not required
