TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities are searching for the cause of a fire that damaged a home in the East Dover section of Toms River early Tuesday morning, officials said. The fire was reported about 2:15 a.m. after smoke detectors alerted the occupant of the home on Buermann Avenue, who got out of the house and called 911, officials with the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention said. The man was not injured, authorities said. Firefighters from East Dover Fire Company, Toms River Fire Companies 1 and 2, Island Heights and Silverton volunteer fire companies responded.
