DWI Saturation Patrol Returning To Concord, Capital Region

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police are restarting their driving while intoxicated saturation patrols for 2021 — with one coming to the area during the Memorial Day weekend. Troopers from Troop D in Concord made the announcement on Monday saying the patrol would occur the weekend of May 29 and would be in the "greater Concord area." No specifics on times or locations were given. State police shifted from sobriety checkpoints to DWI saturation patrols a few years ago in an effort to continue to target drunk drivers but not in a fixed location. The program, according to Capt. Chad Lavoie of Troop D, was approved by the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The administration provides federal highway safety funds to support saturation patrols, he said. "The New Hampshire State Police has taken an aggressive stance to prevent persons from driving when impaired," Lavoie said. "New Hampshire has some of the most aggressive laws in the country to fight impaired driving and the law enforcement community will use those tools to their fullest extent." Got a news tip?
