CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to a dumpster fire underneath the Interstate 393 bridge near North Main Street on Tuesday. The call was reported at just after 9 p.m. Dispatch said there were also propane tanks in the dumpster while Concord police reported the fire had spread to grass around the dumpster, too. When firefighters arrived, they found a ring of flames around the dumpster that was also burning. "It's a pretty good fire going just on the north side of the 393 overpass," the first firefighter who arrived said. Firefighters headed over to the Verizon building because the dumpster was on the far end of the company's lot and they believed they could get better access from that side. When they got to the building though, the command reported "access issues" and requested bolt cutters. Other firefighters tackled the fire from the bridge with police assisting with traffic on the westbound side of the Interstate. New Hampshire State Police, according to dispatch, did not have any troopers available at the time. After the fire was extinguished, just before 9:30 p.m., the commander told dispatch that the police had a potential suspect responsible for setting the fire. At around 10:15 p.m., EMTs and firefighters were sent to Pleasant Street near the Irving gas station for a motorcycle accident between a rider and a car. Dispatch told firefighters that witnesses said the rider was down with "ineffective breathing." The first arriving firefighters requested a trauma alert at Concord Hospital and the rider was taken to the hospital. NEWS 603 posted videos of the fire on YouTube.com. Got a news tip?
